Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a hit, but also being slammed on Steam

The crux of those negative reviews concerns the game’s poor PC performance. In short, it’s an unoptimized mess. (I played on PlayStation 5 and, after adjusting some graphical settings, didn’t encounter any performance issues.) Players also reported not receiving pre-order bonuses and “some pricing anomalies in some regions,” according to a statement put out by Leenzee Games and 505 Games, Wuchang’s respective developer and publisher. “These problems should never have occurred, and we deeply regret the inconvenience and negative experience some players are currently facing.”

Leenzee and 505 were quick to act, and early Friday morning released Patch 1.3 “to address several key issues affecting early players.” It includes several optimizations to increase the game’s performance on PC as well as some bug squashes, like fixing “a crash that could occur immediately after the company logo during game startup.” In terms of gameplay balances, chapter 2’s landmine-ridden levels will see a reduction in the number of those pesky bombs, as well as an adjustment to their damage.

Patch 1.3 also ensures owners of both the standard and deluxe edition receive their “correct content rewards.” As a gesture of good will, Leenzee and 505 are making the soundtrack DLC free for all Steam owners.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is out now for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. You can check out the full patch notes for version 1.3 below.
