The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom puts the eponymous princess front and center after Link gets lost in a mysterious rift. Despite the shift in protagonist, this game shares a lot of DNA with modern Zelda titles. For one, the aesthetic is very reminiscent of 2019’s Link’s Awakening remake. But the game also looks to embrace the more open-ended systems design of Tears of the Kingdom, with Zelda’s magical wand (the Tri Rod) letting her create echoes of in-game objects and enemies alike.
Even based on the official trailers, it looks like things will get very bizarre — like “creating a stack of old beds to scale castle walls” bizarre. We’re all but certain players will find even wilder scenarios when the game releases Sept. 26.
